DRY EYE DISEASE DUE TO HIGH FLOW OXYGEN USE IN COVID 19 ICU PATIENTS: A TRANSVERSAL STUDY
The purpose of this research is to describe dry eye symptoms due to high flown and pressure used in ventilatory noninvasive technique in severe acute respiratory syndrome due to Coronavirus 19 disease.
A transversal, individual, non-blinded visit was done by trained healthcare physicians in intensive care unity beds to examine ocular surface using a questionnaire about dry eye symptoms reported by patients using non invasive ventilatory support.
The research conclude that non invasive ventilatory devices as Elmo helmet were not enough to cause corneal ulcers if used intermittent or until 3 consecutive 24 hours day.
It is important to follow ulcer protocol prevention and to avoid a huge workload in ICU in order to prevent DED.
